Abstract

On “Metodologi Penelitian” learning activities, students less maximizing critical thinking skills. When discussion class procces, not all students are able to express their ideas for solving problems given by the lecturer. The research is expected to apply problem base learning model can improve critical thinking skills and communication skills of students. The research approach used is a qualitative approach. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The results of this research showed that PBL syntax materialize in the first cycle of 82.14% with good criteria and the second cycle percentage of 87.14% with very good criteria. This shows an increase in the percentage of first cycle to the second cycle of 5%. Based on critical thinking skills, critical thinking in the first cycle the percentage of students at 78.65% with good criteria and the second cycle is 81.77% with good criteria. This suggests that an increase in the percentage of critical thinking skills from the first cycle to the second cycle of 3.12%. Based on communication skills, in first cycle the percentage of students at 63.07 with good enough criteria and the second cycles the percentage of 61.03% with a good enough criteria. This suggests that a decline in communication skills of students from the first cycle to the second cycle of 2.04%. The application of the model Problem Based Learning (PBL) has not been able to improve the communication skills of students. It is beyond the PBL syntax factor to improve the communication skills that because some students arrive late when the vote is held in small group discussions so little discussion of their value is very low
